I'm looking to outsource our IT back bureau support and am thinking of bringing in a small IT company - is this a dutiful option - as the guys appear professional and courteous just worries roughly the fact they don't hold alot of money behind them approaching say HP or Oracle. Is it that you want to draw from an outside company to manage your i.t department? or do you want to proposal you i.t department to other companies on an outsourced basis?

I meditate there are various benefits from this kind of arrangement.

I muse the most reliable way of managing your i.t department is to enjoy an arrangement with an i.t company whereby if you enjoy a problem you can call on them. but you do not necessitate to pay them when they are not required.

I enjoy arranged such relationships for clients in the recent past and they have found it to be outstandingly beneficial.

Answers:    Outsourcing make sense for old roomy companies where the overhead of excessive rule and (overpaid) managers normally massively outweighs the resources actually one spent on the service itself.

Companies that have lost control of costs commonly use outsourcing as a blunt axe to chop off services 'leaking' brass without the energy & pain (or adverse publicity) involved near redundancies ..

Whilst it makes sense for eg. BT to outsource a few hundred Support Staff to India, it make no sense at all for the smaller company (who may individual have one or two unswerving support staff) ...

Let's always remember = the Outsource Company is within it for the profit .. do you REALLY think they can measure a well run internal department to deliver like peas in a pod level of service for a fraction of the cost (including their Profit) ?

If you can't grasp what you need from your existinmg Staff, maybe it's time for a radical reorganisation (a foreign Director perhaps ?)

Outsourcing the together IT Dept. might seem attractive, but the loss of control (and accountability) could cease up killing your business ...
