I did some work for a contractor (who I didn't know was unlicensed) and didn't acquire paid. I'm not a sub or anything, only just a laborer. Who do I turn to other than a legal representative?

Your state contractor's license board is a good place to start.Try your state Attorney General also(ask them in the region of wage fraud).The U.S.Department of Labor(Wage division)
might be able to assistance, You can also call your county District Attorney and report "Failure to pay wages and benefits" claim.
