first of adjectives start off selling books, dvd's and cd's though you will not draw from what you put into them, it will raise your feedback
An Ebay store is good if you are selling a expert line of items & stock more than a short time ago one of a particular item.IE: stocking 4 or more of item A,6 of item B and so on.
To capture exposure to your store you will still have to post auctions to direct race to your store.
I sold on eBay and I can give you some tips. if you want that agree to me know. I now promote products online for eBay and if you want that info you can check out this site.
http://affiliate-niche-stores.com I operate a modest eBay business underneath user name user_error, store mark Blade and Steel. I don't do big volume, it's more of a hobby, so if you're looking to make more than I don`t know $50-100 a week You'd be beyond me.
Here's some tips for getting started:
Sell some of your stuff, and buy other stuff. It'll teach you to research your competition, capture you some exposure on eBay, and teach you the ropes of what's expected contained by a normal sale transaction. The "search completed listings only" prospect in advanced survey is NECESSARY to do your market research, because it shows what's selling and what isn't, and for what price.
Find a supplier near an online, searchable database with pictures and a low minimum buy ($100 MAXIMUM), better $50 or none. Compare the products available on the website to the products you find surrounded by completed listings searches, to see if similar items are selling and at what price. If you find you can supply at that price (you don't have to fluff up it, just game it!) try a preliminary auction-style listing using the picture provided on your wholesaler and as much detail as possible, next to a 3-4 day handling time contained by the listing(you'll see why in a sec.)
Start next to small, inexpensive items to keep your risk and buy-in low. Don't bring back too excited buying a bunch of them either, because likelihood are 3/4 or more of them won't sell.
Make your first mart. When one of your auctions closes successfully and you sell a widget, that's when you demand your minimum buy of widgets listed on your wholesaler. Get Several of those, and one or two of some grommets, doodads and wingbats and that look promising so you can theory test them out.
Lather, rinse, repeat!
Caveats:
You don't have to clear sales tariff for anything out of state, but you will have to claim your income on your personal rates returns if it's over (I think) 3 or 4 hundred dollars.
Without drop-shipping and good company, high volume can speedily turn into a real agony and hardly worth the trouble.
Be suspicious of drop-shipping companies until you've held the item in your appendage first, and done a lot of business next to that provider. Items can be very low-quality and companies can be slow/sloppy within their drop-shipping and it will reflect on YOUR business.
Calculate your cost to rob into account shipping cost, ebay fees, ebay fees when they don't close (listing and relisting), store costs (if you expand a store), shipping the items to you, gas to drive to the PO, etc. Fees can eat up small dollar sale really quickly. Have at lowest 25% margin, except 50%.
You're all set to start out, honourable luck!
EDIT: also, open a paypal report, and figure the fees into your almanac prices. You MUST have a paypal report to do business on eBay. There is no such piece as a "great eBay business".
Answers: You need to buy low and get rid of high. Go to patio sales and find great products cheap. List the starting bid at what you remunerated for it and mark the shipping up $2.00. Focus on volume. http://homebizseo.com/Auctions/Auctionsh...
