As an owner of a small residential cleaning business with with the sole purpose 5 employees I've other thought that I wouldn't run into this issue: Employees wanting to borrow money!
This has happen to me three times so far and it seems that it won't acquire to an end. My best member of staff, a very responsible and frozen working person, other has an issue beside her personal finances and comes for help whenever she desires money. To make matter worse, she always comes up next to complicated situations like: my grandfather surrounded by Mexico passed away and I need $500 or "the guy who sold me a TV later month is in my house right very soon and he says he won't give notice my property until I pay". Stuff like this drives me nuts and I don't know what to do since she's incredibly persuasive...
By the way, I compensate her obedient enough and she still go through this $%^&! The main problem here is that she is responsible for departing the invoices to my customers at the time of service and knows how much business I formulate.

Clearly she is a woman who does not know what it means to live inwardly her means. Sure she is a solid worker and you are her employer, but you are not her loan officer and or a hill owner. Do not confuse her work ethic next to her credit worthiness. If she was so responsible beside money she would have found some other institution that would lend it to her. If you lend her and she does not retribution you back, you will find yourself minus a angelic worker and minus money. Tell her you are in the cleaning business not the credit business. First of adjectives it's your own fault. If you want her to stop say aloud no. But, institute a employee policy and procedure that allows for those situations where on earth you employee can bring back an advancement on his or her salary/pay. This way you protect your self from getting scammed by your member of staff and make so that your not a personal ATM for them. This also allows the member of staff to get money when they truly involve it. That way it puts the orb back contained by her court and you are not lending out any money. You should really enjoy policy and guidelines in place surrounded by order to protect yourself from any lawsuits for firing personnel etc. I was trying to find something online that you could copy, but couldn't. Basically, these policy and procedures explicitly explain dress code, calling within sick procedure, employment policies, employee expectations, and pay packet check (and advancement) procedures, grounds for termination, etc. Have the employee sign and date them formerly they start stating that doing so that they agree to the policy and procedures that you have set forth. Also, any time you entail to update or change them, bring in sure that they sign off on them again.

You say she is responsible and thorny working. But if she really was that responsible, next she would know how to handle her money. Maybe you could make available her a break this time, but then alert her that it is the last time you can do this. Maybe even propose to pay her overtime if she works knotty enough and puts surrounded by more hours. I would at least bring her out of the situation where she know what your customers are paying. That's none of her business. Find some other way to bill them, if you want to hang on to her. If you do keep her, I'd a moment ago simply tell her that although it may appear that your business is making a huge profit, there's a lot of overhead that go into it (advertising, supplies, etc) and that you aren't financially able to loan her or any other hand money.

That's true but I suggest your biggest problem is that she may steal from your customers, and you won't find out until your reputation is ruined. My best advice is seize rid of her. NO matter how honest an employee is, making up excuses to seize extra money means she's man dishonest - a disaster waiting to happen to you. If you can't do that after at least ensure that she's bonded so you won't be face with a lawsuit. Make sure she never works alone any. (And never let your on site team handle money or invoices if you can possibly avoid it. Use email or get time to visit the customer to collect the money yourself - which is an excellent opening to get extra lead on new foreign business and to find out if your employees are really doing a honourable job or not.
PS Nick say give her one concluding chance. I respectfully disagree because her antipathy could be "Screw you - if you don't care going on for me, then I don't attention to detail about you or your damned customers.." - next guess what she might do. See what I mean? Can you afford to be wrong? How heaps years have you spent building your reputation? If she be not going into your customers' homes you could try something different but not in this covering. Good luck.
I am also a business owner, so I can read between the lines your dilemma... I have have employees do this as capably in the pas, and I a moment ago sit and listen to them. After they ask for the money, then I simply speak that I am in a business relationship next to them, and not a banker. Meaning, I would resembling to help, but I must stick to a business relationship to team... Sometimes I follow up with "If I started doing it for you, later I would have to start doing it for everyone. This would solitary be fair"..

On the issue of your best employee... It sounds approaching you probably want to increase her pay for a time bit more, instead of "good enough". I enjoy found in the recent past that when you find a really good member of staff, you do about anything you can do to hang on to them happy. If you do, they will keep hold of you happy...
