I am curious why this is occurring to e-Bay :? Is this a good long residence strategy for e_Bay to move
Is this a good long residence strategy for e_Bay to move from a pure consumer-to-consumer auction marketplace to inviting substantial and small businesses to sell to consumers and other businesses, sometimes at fixed prices?
Why or why not?
1st guy nailed it, but he didn't distribute the ending picture to this strategy. Just resembling any company that grows too big, it must continue to nurture more n more, in turn destroying its vastly foundation it was built on. Just similar to eBay is doing and has be doing, destroying the small single guy who built them.
Long term, it is self destruction what they are doing. History shows us great examples of this. Gold Circle stores, Service Merchandise, Toys R Us, K-mart, Sears. All get too big and forgot who built them, in turn them collapsed or bought up or merged simply to save themselves. Wal-mart is on like destructive path, when they drop, it will send shock breakers thru the worlds economy.
Ebay is self destroying itself to build the money today, and not worry'n about the dollar tomorrow, might as in good health shoot the other foot and get it over beside. I use to be an eBay and powerseller. Few years ago I left when the massive flounder left eBay due to price hikes. I look at it in a minute and to me its not even a glimmer of what it once was, I see it as going down hummock, fast.
first post couldn't enjoy said it better. Great explanation.
Answer:
The eBay auction business is reaching its readiness. eBay needs to find alien sources of growth for their business model other than the consumer-to-consumer selling of xbox, used clothes, or beanie babies.
There's a huge souk to be tapped next to businesses getting in on the auction business. Businesses from Sears to Dell to Novica.com adjectives have huge inventory, some of which are closeouts some of which are regular merchandise. Huge inventory translates to HUGE encyclopaedia fees for eBay. And since these are businesses, they are not likely to scrimp on other fees from gallery to bold, etc. It just make perfect sense for them to slap this market.
Sure it make life difficult for the smaller seller on eBay. But eBay has its shareholders to please and target to reach so it have to continually find new business models to pursue.
If Sears or Kmart requirements to get rid of excess merchandise they should set up their own websites. The Charm of Ebay be that you could find things there you cannot find anywhere else. Now you hold to wade thru pages and page of the same made-in-china cheap merchandise to find anything. I agree, it indeed isn't what it used to be.
