Depending on where on earth you live, the cost of setting up such a business may not make it workable to operate as a home based business. Then again, looking at things surrounded by a positive light, everyone have to start somewhere right? Perhaps starting small may be a better way to jump. You might want to consider selling at :

- flea markets
- supplying to your local delis
- supplying to your local grocers
- county fair

Get a feel for the business. My first thought is that unless you own a slew of really unique recipe for candy, this might be a really tough niche to go into beside just one type of candy. There is so much competition.

You might also want to consider setting up a snack store where on earth you sell a range of products and feature your own rank of candy. If orders for your candy picks up, consequently you can explore actual plans to set up a commercial kitchen to produce your candy. If you find that your candy doesn't take the world by storm, you still hold your snack business which will open up lots of opportunity for a creative mind like yours, yes?
