What are the full duties of working at a hotel front desk? I have an interview tomorrow for this position, and I want to
Answers: Ok here it goes...I've worked for 3 leading hotel companies. Holiday Inn, Marriott, and Hilton. So far the job requirements are pretty much adjectives the same.
If you work morning shift usually its 7am-3:30pm
-you'll hold to deal next to check outs. and any guest complains you might have from the hours of darkness before.
-you'll own the duties of pre assigning rooms to meet guest requests.
-you might enjoy to deal next to rate adjustments
-you'll hold on to a money till
-depending on the property you might have to manufacture reservations, the hotel I work at, we just verbs the calls to a 1 800 number.
-you'll hold to learn how to answer multiple phone call.
Now if you work the pm shift wich is usually 3pm-11pm
-you'll deal next to guests checking in
-making sure the hotel isn't over sold, and if it is you'll hold to find guests some accomidations else where.
-DIRECTIONS!! you should know the city you are going to work contained by very particularly well!
-answer multiple phone call
-you'll manage a change till
-get to know the hotel inside and out. People will ask you the most bizzare/random questions you can construe of so be prepared!
-you'll deal next to guest complaints.
Thats all the crucial things I can think of...dont be shy, you hold to have to be confident and speak up!
working surrounded by a hotel is a lot of fun. Thats where on earth you mean adjectives the weirdos/pervs :) best of luck to you!!
oh i forget if you're going to do Night Audit, you just run the darkness audit system, do paper work...sometimes A LOT of weekly work, sit back and dally for your 8 hours to pass!
In increment to Little Lady's answer:
I work night audit presently, I'm a supervisor. Usually you will get a differential for working darkness audit. You will have a minimal staff, sometimes solitary 1 other person depending on where on earth you work. The shift is usually 11pm - 7am. There are nights I instinctively have be done by midnight, but more often I'm done at 4-5am, afterwards I am starting on wake up call... that is if the hotel does them manually. Night Audit is a HORRIBLE shift for a social go. It's harder on your body than most shifts (due to your body and mind wanting to go to sleep during those hours.) But you do usually grasp paid more, and you enjoy to know all aspects of the F.D. Check-ins, check-outs, and accounting. It's a thoroughly stressful portion of the front desk and I would HIGHLY not suggest it if you are not good beside numbers.
Also, you will see a LOT of stuff during those hours. I have be doing this for 5 years now almost and it's.. very well it's interesting to say the tiniest. lol :) Good luck!
